Well Curated Shopping: Uncovet

One of the road blocks to being an efficient shopper is cutting through all the noise. There are so many brands and products out there that sometimes I just wish I had a personal shopper sending me a few cool, well made, newly discovered items each day. Enter Uncovet, a shopping site that does just that. No more scrolling through thousands of products on other sites trying to find what’s new and right for you. Just check your email once a day and find a few key fashion and home picks. Uncovet does the leg work, finding the established and up and coming designers that we didn’t even know we were missing. To shop the items above (including Ali’s Collection!) visit Uncovet and sign up for exclusive access. I couldn’t help but snag this vintage, refurbished bench for our entrance way on their site this morning. I can’t seem to get enough of black and gold these days.

Japanese Beauty: shu uemura

I spent last week traveling throughout Japan and was greatly inspired by the Japanese use of color. Color is deeply rooted in Japanese tradition, as reflected in their art, dress and rituals, and when it comes to beauty, Japanese pigments reign supreme. I have been a long-time fan of shu uemura, an exquisite makeup and skin care brand founded by the late Shu Uemura in the 1960s. Shu Uemura elevated makeup artistry to an art form and the brand has long been known for its unparalleled pigments and finely crafted tools.

Since 2004 the brand has collaborated with other world-renowned artists to push the fusion of art, beauty and fashion to a new level. Their most recent collaboration is with legendary fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld. The collaboration grew out of 20 years of friendship and mutual admiration between the two men, who were both leaders in their respective fields. Inspired by Shu Uemura products, Japanese traditional culture and contemporary art, Karl Lagerfeld created a new icon, the  “mon shu girl”, who became the inspiration for the new collection. The mon shu girl collection is a delightful fusion of Japanese pop and European chic, with all color selection and packaging design directed by Karl Lagerfeld as a touching homage to Shu Uemura. My picks are above and you can see the details on their Cyber Monday & Tuesday sale below.
